Fabulous Father’s Day Meals That the Whole Family Will Enjoy

Snooze, An A.M. Eatery

Located in the Town & Country shopping center, Snooze was originally started by brothers Adam and Joe Schiegel in Denver, Colorado. A stylish diner with an extensive, upscale menu that is sure to please the entire family. Their mantra, “It only takes a moment to make a difference,” is evident in the extra effort they take to make your visit highly memorable.

The Schiegel brothers are very particular about what they serve, and do thorough research to ensure that the products they source are healthy, range-free and cage-free before adding them to the menu. Some popular menu items are the eggs benedict, breakfast pot pie, breakfast burrito and the Snooze Classic. I enjoyed every bite of their signature pancake, the Pineapple Upside Down Pancake, which is made with buttermilk pancake batter and caramelized pineapple chunks, and is served with housemade vanilla crème anglaise and cinnamon butter.

For eggs benedict lovers, Snooze has six versions to choose from. The Early Harvest Benny comes with poached eggs served on griddled pesto grit cakes, a medley of broccolini and wild mushrooms and finished with hollandaise sauce and roasted pepper coulis. It was healthy and delicious. I also enjoyed a vanilla latte made with organic coffee from Guatemala. Also not to be overlooked is the restaurant’s Bloody Mary, which has earned them The Best Bloody Mary award for the last two years.

The Gladly

Andrew Fritz and Chef Bernie Kantak brought their expertise from the successful Citizen Public House restaurant in Scottsdale to the Camelback Corridor three years ago, creating the contemporary, urban restaurant, The Gladly, which has earned them The Best New Restaurant in Phoenix award.

Chef Bernie’s twist on eggs benedict is the man-pleasing Eggs “Bernie”dict, a hearty dish with easy over eggs on a toasted pretzel roll with smoked sausage and cheese fondue. Other tantalizing choices are the mushroom omelette, eggs and grits, churro waffle and chilaquiles rojos. The Gladly’s Original Chop Salad and the Chilean crab cakes, with an avocado sauce, are also amazing options.

Beverage Director Brian Goodwin explains that The Gladly is a risky whiskey establishment with 230 varieties on hand. I enjoyed sipping the Southern Hospitality made with Gentleman Jack whiskey, lemon oleo saccharum, dry vermouth, pomegranate molasses, orange bitters and a mist of orange blossom water. Also not to be missed are their manhattans and the sorbet mimosa with housemade orange sorbet and Prosecco wine.

The Herb Box

New to The Colony area, opening just a few months ago, is the third location of this popular establishment that specializes in healthy and hearty meals with a savory twist. Susan Smederovac-Wilcox continues to provide a welcoming atmosphere with incredible, mouthwatering entrees since opening her first restaurant in Scottsdale twenty years ago.

Tony Pena, assistant marketing manager, describes the cuisine found at The Herb Box as, “Worldly, innovative cuisine with a regional flair and attention to quality ingredients.”

The breakfast and brunch menu offers a large selection of items that Dad will enjoy choosing from. A few recommended choices are the smoked salmon hash with pancetta bacon; the breakfast tenderloin steak and eggs with fingerling potatoes; the chilaquiles with pulled pork and egg on corn tortillas; and the bourbon-ginger peach brioche French toast. The portions are generous and each is a winner. Also, be sure to treat Dad to one of their incredible desserts!
