A Beautifully Updated Ranch Home in Paradise Valley
Makes for Elegant Family Living

When Angie Cole met Garrett Rader while attending college at Arizona State University, they seemed to be a perfect match, both sharing a family-oriented background and deep love for animals and the outdoors.

Shortly after graduating, Angie and Garrett were married and took ownership of Randy’s Restaurant, a well-loved Scottsdale eatery founded by Angie’s parents. When it finally came time for the couple to put down roots, they chose to make their first home in Paradise Valley and instantly fell in love with the area.

“We decided to live in Paradise Valley because my parents lived there. Then once we got out here, we never wanted to leave,” says Angie.

However, when the couple’s daughter, Malia Poppy, started to reach her toddler years, they decided it was time to invest in a bigger home for their growing family.

Chasing the Dream

After looking at a myriad of houses on their own, Angie and Garrett decided to enlist the help of longtime friend and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage agent, Jill Brenenstuhl, who made it her top priority to both sell the family’s existing property and help them find a new home.

“Jill was so wonderful to work with. She has such a perfectly calm personality and just made everything really easy and smoothed out the whole process,” says Angie.

When Jill showed the Raders a quaint, traditional-style ranch home located within walking distance of Kiva Elementary School, it was love at first sight for Angie.

“I took one look at that front yard and just saw our little one running around on the grass with her friends and the dogs. It was just perfect,” says Angie.

Although it took a little more convincing to get Garrett on board, he was sold after seeing the home’s recently renovated interior with its spacious open-concept floorplan, custom wood flooring and abundance of windows filtering in light. The couple had finally found the perfect home.

“The Raders are like family to me, so it just felt great to help them find their dream home here in Paradise Valley and to see them get settled in with their family,” says Brenenstuhl.

Home Sweet Home

It didn’t take long for the Raders to get accustomed to their new home either, as the whole community welcomed them with open arms.

“We have a great little community here, and do a lot of things together like block-parties, Halloween parties and Christmas parties,” says Angie. “It’s really a lot of fun.”

In fact, the front courtyard has become a main focal point of the home. Its classic black-and-white awning, custom pavers and dainty white roses winding up the side of the house provide a picturesque scene from which Angie and Garrett can watch their daughter play on the grass or admire the breathtaking sunsets over Camelback Mountain.

“It’s a cute and sweet little space that’s absolutely perfect for us; and when Malia is playing in the yard and the sun is setting over the mountains, it’s just amazing,” says Angie.

Equally impressive is the home’s backyard, with almost an acre of land perfect for their dogs to run free on or daughter to explore the outdoors. They also have a beautiful pool, a massive play set and a bunch of blossoming orange trees.

Family Living

From the backyard, step inside the home through two French doors into its stunning kitchen. This completely updated space is perfect for both quiet family meals and entertaining, featuring granite countertops, custom wood cabinetry and an elegant little wine bar off to the side. The kitchen also boasts a massive waterfall-edged island that gives way to a table at the end; a favorite spot for the couple’s daughter.

“One of her favorite things right now is when I set up a pizza bar at the end of the island so she can make her own little pizzas. It’s what she wants to eat every night!” says Angie.

The spacious family room is also perfect for hosting guests, with its comfy leather sectional, sate-of-the art entertainment center and grand fireplace.

There’s also the master-suite, which has a fireplace and two large windows overlooking the backyard, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a gorgeous custom shower. On the opposite side of the house is what Angie likes to call “Malia’s wing,” containing both her daughter’s bedroom and playroom. A gorgeous home for a wonderful family.
