Go the distance, make a difference! The Phoenix Children’s Hospital 5K is a family friendly 3.1-mile run/walk for devoted runners, weekend joggers, families looking to do something fun or simply those who want to make a difference. The second 5K Race for Phoenix Children’s will take place on Saturday, October 7, in downtown Phoenix. Walk, run and fundraise to the finish line! Recruit family members and colleagues to raise funds and awareness for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. James Beard Foundation Fifth Anniversary Taste America Culinary Tour

The James Beard Foundation is pleased to announce the fifth anniversary year of the Taste America national culinary tour. The cross-country program will heat up this fall in 10 dynamic culinary destinations including Phoenix.

This weekend-long Taste America program will feature a welcome reception at Fox Restaurant Concepts’ Little Cleo’s Seafood Legend at The Yard on September 21. Join some of the Valley’s biggest CEOs and local celebrities for the 16th Annual Night for Sight to benefit Foundation for Blind Children starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th, at Dominick’s Steakhouse in the Scottsdale Quarter.

The most edible time of the year, Fall Arizona Restaurant Week, is making its return Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 24, sending diners on a 10-day tasting tour of the state. No Kid Hungry

Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council Receives $1.6 Million 
Matching Gift From The Bob & 
Renee Parsons Foundation

The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation has issued a $1.6 million matching challenge to the Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council to help complete its $18 million Campaign for Girls in Arizona. The foundation will match all donations received between now and December 31, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1.6 million.

“Renee and I have seen firsthand how the Girl Scouts are working to create future leaders in our community,” American entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons, says. “It is our sincere hope that this fundraising match campaign will give others cause to join us in this important investment with the sole purpose of educating and encouraging young girls to grow up and become strong future leaders.”
