We Build It. We Sell It. We Guarantee It.
With Arizona’s wonderful climate, it’s only natural for homeowners to expand their living space onto their patio and yard. Ryan Roberts, owner of Arizona Iron Furniture, has many designs and color choices of beautifully handcrafted patio furniture made here in Arizona. His keen business sense, superior quality and customer service have grown his business into five stores over the last 10 years.
How did you get started in this line of business?
I was born in Detroit, Michigan, and I feel that my entire work history contributed to this line of work … In high school, I remember completing a job shadowing project and I visited my uncle in Detroit who was managing a large manufacturing facility. I loved the environment and seeing how everything was made and sold. It was at that point a seed was planted of me someday owning a manufacturing facility. Later, my career took me into designing and selling home products ranging from steel security doors and gates to barbecue islands.
In 2008 at a home show, I fell in love with outdoor furniture and within a few months had made contacts with a couple businesses that were liquidating steel and tools. Shortly after I found a nearly100-year-old run-down building on Grand Avenue and Arizona Iron Furniture was born in January 2009.
Tell me about the building process of your furniture.
Our manufacturing process starts with the best materials we can find. Every bit of materials that goes into the products that we build are made and sold in the USA. From high-quality clean steel and iron to the best foam, lifetime-warranted thread and hundreds of options including the best outdoor fabric in the world, Sunbrella. Our products are built to stand the test of time and the elements. Plus, we confidently back that all up with the industry’s leading warranties.
What makes your product different from other patio furniture?
Every piece we build is made by hand under strict quality control requirements and many points of inspection. Building the furniture ourselves allows us to make many custom comfort and design options available to our customers. This makes our company unique compared to other patio businesses who sell more expensive and lower-quality Chinese imports that do not offer the wide selection of fabric options and quality of furniture as ours.
What has contributed to your success?
We have a great business culture at Arizona Iron Furniture. Our staff is made up of mostly family and friends, so it makes it easy for our customers to have access to decision-makers every day. Our attitude is set on the quality of service we provide our customers, and we’re constantly working towards making sure they get what they want and expect from us. When people step into our doors, they are met with friendly and helpful staff that are trained and cultured to be “service people” and not salespeople. This makes all the difference from the beginning of the purchase process to delivery day, with all the customer smiles and enjoyment that follows. Our customers take as much pride in owning our handcrafted products as we do in building them.
