Get Fit with Moves Inspired by the Oldest Sport Ever Played

Rugby, the oldest sport ever played, is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide. It is played with a football with 15 players on each team. In 1969, Bob Blakely and his fellow Arizona State University law students formed the first rugby team in Arizona, The Phoenix Rugby Club. The club’s emphasis is on fitness and skill development. It offers a place for men to come play to get in shape and join in camaraderie whether it’s at practices or when competing. There’s a bond among players like a fraternity, and players go out after the game to eat with the opposing team, fans, family and friends. PJ Rovinelli, president of the club, has been playing rugby for eight years. “If you are looking for a way to get in shape and working out at gyms, jogging or bicycling doesn’t seem to motivate you, consider rugby—a sport for all ages shapes and sizes,” he says.
