Listen…can you hear that? It’s the sounds of summer. Whether it’s splashing in a pool, the humming of a motorboat or the rhythmic ocean waves, it’s a refreshing sound. It means relief from this heat — and usually making some fun memories!

For me, growing up, those were on lakes in New York state. From sunrise to sunset, you’d find me boating with friends, waterskiing and soaking up the sun with baby oil! Note to my 16-year-old self: Use sunscreen! For Mike, much of his summers were spent in the pool, lifeguarding or on a lake, too. Either way, we’re both water babies!

This month, we’re highlighting a variety of ways to stay cool. Why not start with a drink created for Paradise Valley Lifestyle? Our friends at Hotel Adeline mixed up something special and now you can, too.

How about escaping to another paradise and taking in the ocean breeze from your penthouse balcony at Rocky Point? You won’t want to leave this spectacular condo. But once you’re back, you can cool down at several venues we’ve scouted: theaters, the newest bowling destination, ice skating and even a frozen bar!

If your A/C isn’t keeping up, read about a local former Marine that has found success in the HVAC industry (they were also our No. 1 Readers’ Choice winner in that category!)

However you beat the heat, be sure to tread lightly and hydrate.

Wishing you a safe and happy Fourth of July!
