The 2019 Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships Nov. 2

Polo week begins Oct. 31 with a player’s reception for all ticket purchasers during the Thursday night Scottsdale Art Walk. On Polo Eve, high-end ticket purchasers and sponsors are invited to Molina Fine Jewelers for a VIP players and sponsors reception Nov. 1.

On Nov. 3,  enjoy a polo clinic by the Arizona Polo Club on the fields of WestWorld of Scottsdale.

The big day arrives on Nov. 2 at WestWorld of Scottsdale, and 2019 is already promising to be the best polo event in nine years. Four matches will be played, and there will be a performance from Arizona’s number one oboe player; an acoustic guitar showcase presented by Sanderson Lincoln; a “hip hopera” fusion; and songs from Arizona’s most intriguing new musical Americano, hitting the stage at Phoenix Theatre in January 2020.

Los Sombreros to Open in Uptown Phoenix

South Scottsdale restaurant staple Los Sombreros is opening a new location in Uptown Phoenix at 322 E. Camelback Road. It will open Nov. 7. As veterans of the food service industry, owners Kurt Riske, Geoff Schuman and Adam Rivera are thrilled to bring the authenticity of Central Mexican inspired foods to Uptown Phoenix.

Scottsdale City Ballet Launches

It’s official! Scottsdale now has its very own professional, performing ballet company. The new nonprofit organization was founded by Maggie Rupp, a professional ballerina who wants to shake up any preconceived notions about ballet being stuffy or sleepy.

Maggie has new and exciting ideas to make the ballet as accessible and fun as possible for the audience—including oldie’s music, local collaborations with artists and musicians, and even dinner theater entertainment. Did we mention beer, too?

Scottsdale City Ballet’s goal is to have an inaugural show this fall. The VIG Eatery Announces a New Menu

The VIG eatery, which has locations in Arcadia, McDowell Mountain, McCormick, Fillmore and Uptown, is introducing a new menu. The VIG Restaurants have reconceptualized their menu, adding more of a chef-centric focus that elevates old dining favorites but also adds more vegan and gluten-free menu options. 

The new menu will feature a variety of salads; “handhelds” such as tacos, sandwiches and burgers; and “main street” seafood selections, as well as savory sides and sweet treats. 

Some of the new items include chicken salad with shredded Tuscan kale, roasted chicken, pearl pasta, pepitas, asparagus, avocado, red grapes and lemon sage vinaigrette; cauliflower tacos with corn tortillas, Brussels sprout cabbage, curried cauliflower, avocado, coconut lime dressing and cilantro; black cod and fennel with romanesco, haricot verts, marble potatoes, pickled fennel and onion salad, and lemon-caper pan sauce; a protein bowl served with quinoa, blistered shishitos, shiitakes, fried egg, soy caramel and avocado, with a choice of protein; and short rib and hash with red wine-braised short ribs, sweet potato hash, cauliflower purée and demi-glace. DōH! Coffee and Drunken Doughnuts Opens in Uptown Phoenix

Ready for some colorful and unique doughnuts and drinks? DōH! is now open at 6025 N. 16th St., Phoenix. Opened by Dave Andrea, the owner of Brat Haus, the new location features locally sourced gourmet doughnuts—including “drunken” doughnuts infused with liquor—and bagels along with coffee. On tap, DōH! will offer nitrogen-infused cold brew coffee, Wild Tonic Kombucha, and Zardetto Prosecco for bottomless mimosas. Maple and Ash Opens at Scottsdale Waterfront

Maple and Ash, led by two-Michelin-star Chef Danny Grant of Chicago restaurant group What if Syndicate, is now open at Scottsdale Waterfront, 7135 E. Camelback Road, #130. Voila French Bistro Celebrates its Fourth Birthday

Mountainside Fitness is the presenting sponsor of the 2019 Walk for Wishes, Phoenix, a nationwide Make-A-Wish fundraiser that celebrates the wishes that have already been granted while raising funds for future wishes.
